Notice of Business Partnership Agreement -Establishing a Stable Supply Framework for Fiber Arrays to Meet Growing Demand in Next-Generation Optical Communications and AI Infrastructure-

   Last Modified:    Published: 2026/04

Overview of Partnership

Orbray Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Adachi-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Riyako Namiki; hereinafter "Orbray") and Hiyama Industry Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Hitachinaka-shi, Ibaraki; President and CEO: Hiroshi Hiyama; hereinafter "Hiyama Industry") have agreed to the execution of a business partnership agreement, effective April 1, 2026.

Background and Strategic Objectives

Optical communications, generative AI, data centers, quantum computing, optical sensing, and other fields are experiencing rapid technological development and commercial deployment. In addition, the widespread adoption of generative AI has driven significant expansion in cloud services, while accelerating research and development toward practical quantum computing applications also making significant advances. Together, these trends are increasing data center traffic volumes and placing sustained pressure on transmission bandwidth. Demand for data acquisition in optical sensing, particularly for autonomous vehicles and other industrial applications, is also growing sharply.

This has accelerated the transition from conventional electrical wiring to optical interconnects. Simultaneously, power consumption of data centers has become a serious infrastructure challenge. Optical wiring offers lower power consumption and higher transmission density than electrical alternatives, positioning multi fiber arrays, precision-aligned multi-fiber optical connection components, as a critical element of next-generation infrastructure. Demand for these products has expanded accordingly.

Recognizing these market conditions as an opportunity, the two companies have agreed to combine their respective strengths to establish a stable supply framework capable of meeting growing demand, while enhancing the competitive position of their products.

Roles and Core Strengths

Orbray Co., Ltd.

Orbray has conducted research, development, manufacturing, and sales of optical fiber connection components and optical devices for many years. The company possesses high-precision optical component manufacturing expertise, supported by ultraprecision machining technology, along with an extensive customer network in the optical communications industry, both domestic and international. Drawing on accumulated materials and precision machining knowledge developed through optical connectors, ferrules, lenses, and other related components, Orbray will lead efforts to enhance the value of multi-core fiber array products and deliver optimized solutions to the global market.

Hiyama Industry Co., Ltd.

Hiyama Industry has established strong mass production capabilities and quality management systems for fiber array manufacturing. The company possesses the production capacity to supply high-precision, high-reliability products consistently, at volume. The company's proprietary manufacturing processes for fiber array assembly, alignment, and bonding are well-regarded within the industry, and its ability to respond to expanding market requirements represents a core operational strength.

Expected Outcomes and Future Expansion

Through this partnership, the two companies will pursue the following synergies:

Strategic Goal Item Implementation Details
Creating framework for stable supply chain Combine Hiyama Industry's mass production capabilities with Orbray's quality and logistics management to ensure reliable supply and meet growing demand
Market expansion Accelerate deployment into data center, optical communications, and AI-related markets through Orbray's customer network
Product innovation and competitiveness Expand the product lineup and develop high-quality, competitive multi-core fiber arrays through the integration of both companies' technical expertise
Contribution to low-power infrastructure Support the adoption of optical interconnects and contribute to the development of sustainable infrastructure

Through this partnership, both companies aim to expand their business in domestic and international markets while contributing to the advancement of optical connection technologies that form the foundations of the next-generation communications and AI infrastructure.
